Founded in 1875, the Town of Central got its name from the Atlanta and Richmond Air-Line Railway (today Norfolk Southern) when it served as the halfway point between Atlanta and Charlotte. Today, the town is home to the growing Southern Wesleyan University and a vibrant Main Street which is home to many shops and restaurants and venue of the annual Central Railroad Festival.
